Together We Achieve More

Reporting to Parents

School/Home Liaison

Newsletters giving relevant information about school activities, forthcoming events and dates for the diary are issued regularly – at least one per term.  Parents who find it difficult to cope with written communication can receive the same information in a different way which may better suit them.  If you would like to receive newsletters via e-mail, then please leave your e-mail address at the school office. All newsletters are also put on our school Dojo, Twitter page – @RaigmorePS and on Facebook, search for ‘Raigmore School Parents & Carers’

We are currently reviewing how we report to parents throughout the year, so the following information  may be subject to some changes in the coming months.  We are going to be working closely with parents to gather feedback from them as part of these changes.

Parent/Carer Meetings

Parent/Carer meetings are arranged throughout the school year.

a)    Parent/Carer Meetings:  Two sessions of appointments are arranged with each appointment lasting 5 minutes.  These appointments focus on progress and next steps and any wishes you have regarding your child’s learning.

Open Days

Open days are held regularly across the session giving all Parents/Carers the opportunity to:

  • discuss topical educational issues/school improvement
  • have a general look around the school and in your child’s classroom
  • review your child’s completed work and look at Pupil Profiles
  • to meet your child’s teacher
  • to engage in literacy/numeracy activities in the classroom setting that you may be able to try out at home
  • find out additional information for your pre-school child prior to starting school in August

Parents/Carers are always welcome at the school and you may make an appointment to meet with the Head Teacher or your child’s class teacher at any time throughout the year but please do not call at a classroom door unannounced expecting quality time to talk to the class teacher.  If everyone did this it could be very disruptive for the pupils so please call at the school office first to arrange a suitable appointment.

In the interests of pupil and staff safety, we request that all visitors to the school should report in the first instance to the school office.

Pupil Progress Reports

In accordance with Highland Council Guidelines, pupils will be issued with a progress Profile & Report at the end of the session in June.

Key Assessment Tasks

Key Assessment Tasks will go home once/twice per term.  These give the class teachers, pupils and parents the chance to exchange assessment and application of learning information on an informal basis.  Parents are asked to comment on these and return them to school to be included in a child’s Pupil Profile folder.  They also provide an opportunity for discussion between pupil & teacher and also parents & children and the chance to reflect on successes and what they have achieved.

Class Assemblies

Each class will present one of our whole school assemblies.  Parents/Carers will be invited to come along to see their child’s assembly.  The assembly will give the class a chance to showcase some of the learning they have been doing in class.
